Some self-isolation (from each other) was required today, meaning our Saturday was pretty chill and uneventful.
I decided to treat myself to a lie-in (I know, shock horror) so sat out on the morning workout. Mum and Amy did a routine that focused on form and stretching aka much less intense than the ones they make me do! (But more intense than laying in bed, I’ll give them that)
We mostly kept ourselves entertained today. Dad spent a large chunk of the day in the woods, he saw 4/5 fallow deer (Bambi deer) which he had seen in previous years but was worried were no longer around. I reckon our two monkjacks have got some competition for their garden landscaping business.
Myself and mum had a chill hour or so while listening to our current favourite Podcast ‘Phone a Friend’, with George Ezra and his pal Ollie. Ollie lives in Barcelona so they ring weekly to talk about their lives and share stories from the past week. I’ve listened to this podcast in public and have chortled out loud, no shame in that right? They also speak honestly and openly about their mental health and their journeys with this. While we listened, mum continued knitting her chicken (will show you it when it’s finished) and I did some colouring. I’ll insert a picture but I’ve been a bit addicted to this ‘Querkles’ colour by number book which uses circles to create portraits of iconic humans – 10 points to anyone who can guess the face featured in the picture,
Jack and I tried out one of the games that I got for my birthday called ‘Overturn’. It’s a two-person game and the premise is you have to end up with the most of your colour on the board at the end of the game. You can turn the other person’s counter over to your colour if you trap them horizontally, vertically or diagonally between your colour counter. It involves a lot of strategy and a lot of frustration if you’re me. I won’t tell you who won because I’m sure you can all guess…
At 8pm, myself and Jack decided to watch Daisy May Cooper’s playwriting live stream on Instagram. Daisy May Cooper is a wonderful actor and writer who co-wrote ‘This Country’ a BBC mockumentary comedy with her brother Charlie. It’s a recent discovery of mine but I binged it in a couple of weeks, it’s beautifully crafted British humour. She did a half an hour stream introducing her process to scriptwriting and character development – it definitely got me inspired to get pen to paper. I’ve been really enjoying and appreciating the content that has become available online due to the circumstances particularly in relation to theatre – I’ve seen a lot of places providing free access to digital copies of their performances which is helping fill that theatre void. But I’ve also seen Live yoga classes, crafting workshops, cooking demonstrations… it’s heartwarming to see so many people coming through in these difficult times to provide things to put smiles on people’s faces, of course it will never compare to human interaction but for now it’s keeping us going.
