Another uneventful but still pretty wholesome day was had yesterday. We are trying our best to still seperate weekend from weekday in order to retain a bit of structure and sanity.
We peaked in the morning by attempting a 30-minute cardio workout. Cardio is not a word that brings me much joy (does it anyone??). We were following three women; one did the standard moves, one did the advanced moves and one did the modified moves. Can you guess which one we followed? We may have taken the ‘easy’ option but you wouldn’t be able to tell by how difficult getting dressed was this morning, glutes on fireee.
Jack had a much more productive day than the rest of us. He spent a large chunk of the day filming for his digital theatre workshops that he is producing. Mum described how she could ‘feel his enthusiasm’ from the other side of the house. It’s nice to know at least one of us could conjure up some energy on a rainy quarantine Sunday. While he was busy filming I had a sort out of my room, put away my Birthday presents – always a sad reality that your birthday is over and you are just in fact older now. I also had a go at coming up with some characters, as inspired by Daisy May Cooper. I’ll try not to forget you all when I win my Olivier.
Amy was back on the baking game, supplies are getting a little limited now though. Today’s creation was a peanut butter and chocolate crumble cake – yes it was as delicious as it sounds. Sal gal also got inventive in the kitchen and made some Indian spiced tofu pieces to go alongside her vegetable korma (I somehow missed out on the culinary gene). We had to ration the last remaining teaspoon of mango chutney – can’t say it goes a long way between 5 people. First world problem I know.
We decided to create a ‘quarantine free’ jar today. I think, like everyone, we’ve had a few moments of ‘ah I wish I could be doing this’ ‘I’d love to be doing that’ etc. So we decided that we should write these things down so we can bank them for when this is over, as something to look forward to and I suppose as a way of trying to see an endpoint. Currently, the only thing in the jar is ‘Order Gluten Free Pizza Hut’, no prizes for who wrote that one. A gal has got to have dreams to keep her going.
We are getting to grips with this digital socialising. I mean in a way it’s great – you don’t have to get dressed and when you’re over it you can just pretend your battery is dying (I mean.. I’d never!). Amy had a games evening with 6 other people using an app called ‘Air Console’. She played Cards Against Humanity and some other different quizzes. I had a good 2 and a half hour catch up with my pal Jodi over facetime. We realised it was the first time we’d facetimed in the whole 10 years of knowing each other. It was lovely to see a face and not just words on a screen, it’s also comforting to know that everyone else is feeling the same sense of ‘what the hell is going on??’. She shared a funny story with me (which I’m sure she won’t mind me sharing) of her and her brother going for a walk near her house and a young girl racing towards them, her parents screaming ‘NO DON’T GO NEAR THEM!’. She then turned and ran towards a bench, ‘NO DON’T TOUCH THE BENCH!’. It just highlights the absurdity of the situation but it did make me chuckle.
