We got through hump day, the sunshine definitely helps.
We begrudgingly settled on a 10-minute standing ab workout – basically as an attempt to avoid planks and/or crunches. It was relatively bearable but I can tell it worked today. We followed a 10 minute stretch video afterwards which was intended as a calming, gentle round up to the exercise but the woman spoke so fast and moved through the stretches so quickly that it might as well have been part of the workout.
It was a productive day by all but we broke the staring at screens up by playing some Badminton in the sunshine. We used random objects to layout the ‘court’ and the net, playing first to 6 (obviously real professional). Because Jack wasn’t playing, I actually managed to win. Took me a bit of time to warm up but when I was in the zone, I was on fire (sort of). A cold drink and ice cream were definitely appreciated after. Mum and dad also had a nice stroll in the evening. They said hello to the cows (have you seen a more photogenic cow?). They wandered up to the woods and saw the first bluebell of the year. It’ll be lovely when they all come out – I’m sure we will take all the artsy photos.
Jack has been craving a Chinese and sadly living in the sticks we don’t have any take-outs that deliver to us. So our next best bet was Waitrose’s finest (those of you avid readers will remember the trauma when mum thought she’d left this in the trolley). It wasn’t QUITE take out Chinese but it was delicious, we are still hoping that Jack leaves us a good Trip Advisor review. We had to eat quite early because I had work and had the long ‘ol commute from the kitchen to the office. The drama groups that I assist on are all moving online and we are using the platform Zoom. It’s obviously quite different to running them face to face and takes a bit of getting used to but it’s working really well. It’s great that there’s still a way that young people can engage and stay creative. If anyone reading this knows young people who might be interested in theatrey/creative online programmes, have a gander here: https://www.wartsandalltheatre.co.uk/linkdigital. There are also Q&A sessions for people of all ages, parent groups, bedtime stories… might be of interest for some of you.
We caught up on Bake Off after my work had finished and were saddened by the fact it’s the last one of this season – no more Sandy! When will we get another series?! Obviously a crucial issue in this current climate.
