Dear Isolation #23

I have a bullet journal that I have used for a couple of years, one of the pages I use to colour code my days (blue being a good day, green being average, red being sad etc). I find it a good way to track my days and spot any patterns, comparing from year to year. I use yellow as a code for really great/happy days and as stated by Jack – yesterday was a yellow day.

Though it definitely didn’t start as a yellow day… in some moment of madness we chose a 20 minute ab workout. This was not standing either, it was ram packed with all the horrors. We made a measly effort of getting through the 20 minutes, majority was spent crying on our backs. We’ve all really struggled with laughing today.

The excitement for Jack today was leaving the house *Alexa play ‘Into the Unknown’ from Frozen 2*. He had to pick up some documents/letters from his house, which he’d been putting off, but today was the day. His car started, which we were all grateful for and off he went into the dark depths of Northampton. I’m glad to say he made it back safe, with everything he needed including his summer wardrobe. The most exciting thing he brought back however, which brought a big smile to Amy’s face, was some highly fought after plain flour that he found hiding in the back of his kitchen cupboard. She’s now been able to start her second attempt at a sourdough starter, first one grew into a beast. Will keep you updated on all the Sourdough goodies.

Make, Bake, Isolate has been getting all the content as of recently. Yesterday’s craft was the finishing of her Easter Wreath (obviously what every household needs!) It looks lovely hung up on our kitchen wall particularly as the birthday decorations have now been replaced with various other Easter decorations we have crafted over the years. We will find an excuse to decorate for all occasions.

We had our first BBQ of the summer in the evening, couldn’t have asked for more lovely weather! We had sausages, veggie burgers and halloumi and veg skewers – went down a treat. Jack and I enjoyed a few drinks and had a boogie to the ‘Summer BBQ’ playlist on Spotify (which is full of bops), the rest of the family weren’t quite on our level though.

We are big fans of ‘Big Potato Games’ in the Raynor household (have a look online for some of their board games if you need a bit of Quarantine entertainment). They have released a free game online which we played yesterday for the first time. It involves listing as many right answers as you can from the category that the quiz master reads (Jack got very into this, with an interesting take on a New York accent). You have three attempts to get the most ‘hits’ and there is an impossible tie break question on each card in case of a draw. Some hilarious answers included:

‘Name one of the natural wonders of the world’ ‘The pyramids of Piza’

‘Name one of the 10 squares on a Monopoly board that aren’t properties or stations’ ‘Car park’

‘Name one of the 7 Harry Potter Books’ ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ (I was convinced this was right)

A day of sun, laughter and good food – not too shabby.

(A random selection of photos today but they are a good representation of Amy slowly losing patience with mine and Jack’s BS)
