Dear Isolation #26

We were a bit too lucky with the weather weren’t we? Couldn’t last forever…

Decided to start the week off right and kick our butts and abs into gear. It’s funny the comparison between the impeccably flawless and toned women on the videos in their matching pastel workout gear and us – just rolled out of bed, toothpaste on our vests, greasy hair just scraped back into a bun. But we did it, just lacking style.

It was a bit of a spring cleaning kinda day. Jack earnt lots of boyfriend points by cleaning and tidying the room while we were working out. I finished off the room with a well needed hoover (thick hair problems) and gave the bathroom a wipe. Tidy room, tidy mind right? Amy and mum also very on it with their tidying and hoovering. They also braved the blustery outdoors and took a very flattering selfie for the comparison of how much can change in a day. They were very lucky and saw four fallow deer!

The fridge is looking very sad and supplies were diminishing, everything that was apart from broccoli (Megan’s least favourite vegetable) (yes I am 5). She scrawled the internet for broccoli recipes and found one for honey, soy and sesame seed broccoli which she served with a stir fry. It was as good as broccoli gets.

We had a bit of a games evening and bravely got out ‘Gutterhead’ which is a game Jack got me for my birthday and is described as a ‘fiendishly filthy drawing game.’. You move your little ‘poop’ counters around a board and land on coloured spaces that represent coloured cards on which have words/phrases for you to draw, the aim is for your team mate to guess your word before the other team. I am aware that my grandparents read this blog so am not going to repeat some of the things that we had to draw. I’ll just say that mum and amy’s versions of some of the words were a lot more family friendly than mine and Jack’s. It was a giggle but I think it’s a game better suited for playing with friends (probably with a few drinks in you).

We continued the games by whipping out an old classic, ‘just dance’ wii. We had definitely forgotten what a workout this game is, we were all wheezing by the end of ‘can’t touch this.’ I admit, bitterly, that Amy beat us on almost every single dance. I would say however that I put more energy and flare into my moves and mum…well she was just having a good time.

We watched the new ITV drama ‘Quiz’ last night which is based on the Who wants to be a Millionaire scandal in 2003, which I hadn’t actually heard about before watching this. It was a pretty interesting watch and a great cast, Michael Sheen’s Chris Tarrant is brilliant and I’m also a big fan of Sian Clifford who play’s Claire (the sister) in Fleabag. Speaking of… Phoebe Waller Bridge’s stage performance of Fleabag is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime for £4 (with all profits going to the NHS). I saw it in the cinema and loved it but will very likely end up watching it again – would definitely recommend for anyone who’s a fan of the series (or just great theatre!).
