Dear Isolation #27 & #28

She’s slacking again with these daily blogs…

Tuesday started off with all the drama with ‘The Great Cow Escape’. Our next door neighbour knocked on the door at about 8 am to say that a local farmer had spotted the cows wandering through some near by fields.Their gate was flung open and they had managed to escape out of the farm. Mum, Dad and Amy (Jack and I were blissfully asleep in bed) went out to join the others as they attempted to herd the cows back to their field. Some had the luxury of a quad bike, some did not (mum worked up 4,000 steps).  Amy was set guarding a gate to make sure that the cows didn’t run out onto the main road, she was told that they were unlikely to come back this way… HOWEVER… they started making their way towards her. I was informed that she swung her arms out and made herself as big as possible in order to herd them backwards and it worked! Amy will now forever be known as the great cow whisperer. There is a hilarious screenshot from the CCTV camera of the cows casually heading out through the gate.

(Later in the day the female cow managed to get out again, she must have got a taste for freedom, but she didn’t go too far this time as she wanted to stay with the boys).

Amy and mum have been on a walk both days to go and see the blue bells (and check on the pesky cows!). I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather (nothing serious) so haven’t joined them but I hope that I can go out and appreciate the sunshine in the next couple of days.

We have a new pet… a sourdough starter. Amy has been lovingly tending to it with the intention of making all the sourdough goodies. I am not 100% sure how it works but you have to remove some each day (and add some?) and with the stuff that they have taken away they made sourdough pancakes. Amy was very over critical of them and said they had a funny after taste but I thought they were delicious. She was also very critical of the pitta that she made yesterday lunch time but they were no complaints from anyone else. We are living the high life now the food shop has been delivered, we are no longer having to ration cheese. There was a bit of a blunder however as mum thought she’d ordered it for 10:30am but it was actually 10:30pm, we aren’t really night owls in this family!

Jack and I watched the current NT Live production of Jane Eyre on their YouTube channel, performed at the Old Vic. It was a hefty three hours so we watched it in two sittings but it was a really stunning production. Neither of us were aware of the plot (not very cultured) so we were very much invested in the story line, the set design was also beautiful. It’s only up until 7pm tonight, then it get’s replaced by ‘Treasure Island’ (which looks incredible!), so if you’ve got a spare 3 hours today then I’d definitely recommend taking the time to watch it.
