We had to rely on our alarms to wake us up yesterday as the cows stayed firmly in their field (I’m sure they’re just hatching their next escape plan).
Cow chasing was replaced by a cardio HITT workout, much less a-moo-sing (ey).
We did get to meet the new addition to the farm, six gorgeous black and white lambs. Next door has had them for a couple of weeks but it was the first time they were out in the paddock so we went to say hello. They were a bit nervy to begin with but they soon enough skipped down the field to say hello. There’s a particularly cute one that blundered it’s way down, at the back, with one particularly floppy ear. It’s safe to say that hormonal Megan let out a few tears of joy at the sight of these angels. They discovered the new sprouting trees at the bottom of the field and began having a munch on them, I’m sure you’ll all appreciate the photos of them submerged in the shrubbery.
I was allowed on Amy and mum’s daily walk today. As we were walking down the hill, they linked arms with me either side and warned me of the slippy hill. I naively laughed at their caution before promptly losing my footing and relying on them to catch me, serves me right. We checked the cows were behaving before wandering up through the woods, there are more and more bluebells every day. We spotted the deers in the very distance before they ran off into a field. Amy bravely decided to declare a race, back up the slippy hill, on the way back. I’d like to say it was close… but I smashed it.
Mum braved leaving the house again today, at my expense, to pick up some antibiotics from the pharmacy. They weren’t allowing people into the building so she had to shout at them through the door and they passed the products through a hatch in the door. To pay, she had to put her contactless card to the glass and they held the card machine up to the other side. What a mad old world. She popped to get petrol on the way back and came back with the essentials.. mayo and Lucozade. Mum’s other excitement of the day was finding some plants sprouting in her gravel (I believe they were a lavender plant, a forget me not and the other one escapes me) which she then has repotted to give them a new life. Who needs B&Q?
The sourdough pet is becoming more of a BEAST. It has been thriving and has grown in size significantly. I was saying to Amy that she might wake up with it slowly spilling its way into her bedroom, there’s definitely a horror film script in that. Amy had to remove a fair bit of it which meant that we could have sourdough pancakes again for pudding – which were even better than the first lot. She began her bread yesterday evening too (more on that in the next instalment, I’m sure that’ll keep you all up at night!). Our post pancake evening entertainment was another family quiz (we managed to make Zoom work this time!) and I had the quiz master title this week. I was a little bias with my rounds… Music, History, Theatre & Literature and TV & Film. We’ve decided to tally over the points from each week, first getting 5 points, second getting 3 and third getting 1. Think it’s safe to say that Michael and Lindsey are the ones to beat. We all had fun though and had lots of giggles as per, Grandad isn’t too great at keeping his voice down when he knows the answer. We’ve decided that next week is going to be fancy dress and extra points will be awarded for best costume… god help us.
