Made it to day 30, Jack’s almost been living with us a month now (and somehow still smiling).
I promised an update on Amy’s sourdough and I can confirm that it was a massive success. The hours tending and singing to the sourdough paid off and she baked a lovely light loaf that we all very much enjoyed with our lunch. She doesn’t rest that girl, she also whipped up some flourless peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies which were also delicious, especially when they were warm and straight out of the oven. Today’s task has been croissants (which is a 13-hour process?!) so we will see how they turn out.
I did a bit of crafting yesterday, needed something therapeutic. I did some decoupage, which is essentially ripping up patterned paper and sticking it onto objects (great explanation there Megan). My picture of my decoupage sausage dog should hopefully make that make more sense. With a lot of paper (and patience) you can even do it to furniture, so if boredom hits I can’t promise that I’ll keep away from the kitchen chairs.
I ordered the family some ‘Bloom and Wild’ flowers after seeing how lovely Jodi’s were, I thought it would be a nice surprise and something nice to have in the kitchen. They’ve been blooming over the past couple of days so I will include a photo today. I swear that getting anything in the post is even more exciting now than it was.
Amy treated us to a dominoes in the evening (student discount perks) and they managed to find us with only two phone calls. Gluten Free dominoes isn’t too wonderful so I just got chicken and chips (a very beige dinner). I didn’t take a photo because we were all ravenous but I’m sure you all know what a pizza looks like.
The at-home hairdresser saga continued last night with Amy dying mum’s hair. She bought a semi-permanent box dye in a light brown colour that Amy distributed over her head and her forehead and her neck and her ears. She came down to give us the big reveal and it definitely isn’t light brown but it’s lovely none the less. It’s gone a sort of auburn colour at the roots and fades into a much darker brown. Can’t trust the pictures on the boxes. Jack had an online games evening with some of his work colleagues last night and he had a lot of fun. He’s definitely very quiet when he wins.
