Dear Isolation #35 & #36

Another two day installment, aren’t you lucky.

The search for flour is a treacherous and time-consuming one, mum and Amy have scoured the internet for flour that doesn’t cost more than a small house. They managed to find some from a company called ‘Flower and White’ and it arrived on Wednesday morning. They also cheekily ordered a few packets of flavoured meringues as well as a Gluten Free brownie mix for me, you just have to add butter and egg so I reckon my culinary skills should suffice!

Jack joined us on our walk on Wednesday into the woods, he’s been talking about some crazy film ideas for inside the wood so I think that was part of the reason he tagged along. He was in charge of our token walk selfie which escalated into Megan and Jack taking very posed pictures in various woodland locations, definitely not obvious that we are both actors. He then continued to film us all with a David Attenborough style commentary, documenting as we took the dangerous journey over a muddy puddle (never a dull moment with Mr Smith).

Jack took one for the team this time and braved the shops on Thursday – glad of an excuse to escape us! We sent him with a very weird and varied list but he managed to come back with almost everything. He, like mum, said it wasn’t the most stress- free environment. He bought himself some Corona beer which he assured me wasn’t for the irony but for the taste (I dispute this as it tastes like piss).

I spent a lot of Thursday doing some birthday related crafts for our third quarantine birthday coming up next week. I obviously can’t share these yet as I don’t want a certain Amy seeing them. She’ll no longer be a teenager, how did that happen?

I had work Thursday evening followed shortly after by the weekly family quiz… this time in fancy dress. Jack sported a lovely blue wig (once worn for World Book day when Amy and I were Thing 1 and Thing 2), Amy wore a dalmation hat while Mum and I looked ready for the tropics in sunnies and flower garlands (Dad let the team down). Julie and Katie were in charge of the quiz this week and we especially enjoyed the two ‘family’ rounds (Jack didn’t stand much chance on these). One was a photo round ‘whose feet are these?’ ‘which baby is this?’ and most strangely ‘whose bottom is this?’. The next were questions regarding different family members or events, we learnt that Dad couldn’t remember what food they ate at his own wedding and Grandad doesn’t know when my birthday is. It was a lot of fun and is definitely becoming the highlight of my week.
