Dear Isolation #39

Made it to Sunday and potentially our last day of sunshine for a wee while.

I chickened out of exercise yesterday and instead opted for a lie-in, can you blame me really?? Mum and Amy powered through with an abs and arms workout – potentially to make me feel guilty for staying in bed. I did get my exercise from another competitive game of Netball – Megan & Jack V Amy & Sal. I don’t think Jack was best pleased he had me on his team but I came through and we smashed the opposing team (until they got bored of losing!). We then gave ourselves the challenge of trying to shoot a hoop backwards which I can confirm that none of us achieved. MAYBE by the end of lockdown… double points if we get it on camera.

I spent a large chunk of the day crafting, wrapping and planning Amy’s birthday, Jack has also got in on it. I think I am more excited than her for her birthday now. On a side note, how was my birthday nearly a month ago? How does time fly but also go incredibly slowly? I think mum wish time flew when she was sorting out the garage, it turned out to be a very hefty job but yesterday they finished! She was very grateful to leave the stuffy, dusty garage and pop herself on the sun lounger with a book.

We appear to have become a haven for wildlife… deers, rabbits, stoats, birds of prey. The lake has now also become occupied with geese, ducks and swans – maybe they aren’t getting the same quality snacks of bread and discarded ice cream at their local ponds. Amy and mum went for a quick walk in the evening (before it rained) to welcome the new residents. The horse was also excited to see them and gave a little buck. The swans were friendly and enjoyed the leftover sourdough that they brought them (spoilt swans), they said that they were practically eating out of their hands.

In the evening we went to the theatre (sort of) and sat down to watch the NT Live production of Twelfth Night (love a bit of Shakespeare, darling). It had a cool 60s vibe with an impressive revolving stage set – The National likes a good revolve. It’s a fun, playful version with some really funny moments and some brilliant and honest acting. Tamsin Greig’s Malvolia (Malvolio) is incredible, it’s worth watching simply for her letter opening monologue.
