Where has this week gone? Feel like I’ve blinked and it’s almost the weekend.
We started Wednesday off with a ‘basic’ HITT YouTube video, we can confirm a month into lock down that basic is still not easy. It was very repetitive, 5 exercises repeated 4 times with no motivational mentor on screen that we’re used to. We did ask Alexa to play 80’s music to help power us through, the only thing that will get me through a plank from now on is ‘Eye of the Tiger.’
Mum and Amy found the short window without rain to take a stroll into the woods to admire the ever flourishing blue bells, Amy took some particularly arty pictures. The very wet weather definitely has an impact on my mood, looking forward to the sunshine reappearing in a couple of days (hopefully).
Amy made another sourdough bread roll, which was the most successful yet. It was beautifully risen and very soft, her last one was a little dense. She is making good use of the 10 million kg of bread flour that we’ve collected over the past few weeks. She has even ordered a proving basket today, I couldn’t tell you it’s purpose but I can’t complain that she’s becoming a great little bread baker.
The family quiz in the evening was of varied success. A few individuals, no names mentioned but you know who you are ;), had forgotten that the quiz was on as it had moved from our usual Thursday night so we were a bit slow starting. It’s worth mentioning at this point that we had fully committed to the fancy dress theme of ‘dressing like other family members’. Jack and I swapped, myself with some fetching facial hair, his cap and hoodie while he rocked my dressing gown (apparently that’s my usual attire) and one of my floral headbands. Mum and Dad went for Uncle Michael, distinguished by wooly hats and binoculars. Amy chose Grandma wearing an apron, holding knitting and appearing with her freshly baked bread. We were let down by the rest of the family who had forgotten about the theme (think we should have been given bonus points).
Grandma and Grandad (who were the quiz masters) had remembered but were having technical issues so it took them about an hour to get onto zoom, so we only had time for half of Grandma’s quiz but a great half it was. One of the rounds all the answers began with ‘Iso’ (isolation), ‘Cor’ (Corona) or ‘Loc’ (Lockdown). Jack and I did absolutely shocking, even with the multiple choice questions. Jack has a tendency to very confidently and convincingly say he knows the answer when in reality it’s a total guess in the dark but it fools me into a false sense of security – maybe not a good foundation for a relationship.
Better clarify that I’m joking before anyone thinks that quarantine has made us hate each other, well I can only speak on my behalf ;).
