Thursday was just one of those days, we all need a corona cry now and again don’t we? I spent most of the day, for this reason, doing some well needed self care mainly in crafting form. I started a scratch art picture of fireworks above St Paul’s which was incredibly therapeutic, I am grateful for the 3 other ones left to do when my head needs it. A very good rainy day activity also. Speaking of crafting, Amy finished her first knitting project of the wooly hat that she’s been working on – she finished it with a lovely blue and maroon pompom. Mum’s started making fabric masks to donate to the health service using up all of the patterned fabric we have lying about – I might have to request a funky one, will I need one to match every outfit?
The highlight of Thursday was definitely dinner (when isn’t it?). We got out the very retro raclette (a hot plate to melt cheese on) which we cooked swiss cheese, halloumi and fake-on on. We served this with roasted veg, potatoes and Amy’s baking delight.. sourdough Focaccia. This might have been my favourite bread she’s done so far, I am very much appreciating being able to eat all the baked goods that I’ve gone without for a couple of years – any bread that doesn’t feel and taste like cardboard is a plus.
Friday started off with potentially the hardest workout yet, a 35 minute HITT workout. I don’t know where the motivation to do that video came from but it did and surprisingly we actually managed to keep up through out most of it. I took a photo of how red I was after the workout (which for my dignity I won’t be sharing) but I can confirm I was a solid shade of tomato – I have an inability to control my body temperature so it all goes to my cheeks. We did feel very accomplished after but oh my god do our butts hurt today, we’ve hobbled our way through Saturday.
Mum had a zoom call with some pals and Jack had his weekly games night so Amy and I decided to use the short window without rain to go for a little potter around the lakes – there was a very beautiful rainbow just as we got back inside. The two swans are still residing in the lake and we went to say hello, we weren’t greeted with warmth and love but instead a flap and a hiss – maybe because we didn’t bring any bread. We also saw a couple of coots having a mooch around the pond – we are hoping for all the cute bird babies.
