The weekend rolls around again.. what week are we on?
Sal and Amy made the sensible choice of participating in some yoga designed for ‘achey legs’, Megan instead decided that a lie in would be better use of her time so continued to hobble throughout the entirety of the day. I did try some very non committal stretches on the kitchen floor with Jack (which mum took some very unflattering pictures of) but I’m still feeling that HITT today.
As Saturday’s go it was pretty uneventful, we all got on with our own things for the most of the day. Mum continued her masks, I believe she’s made three now (with a few she had to unpick because she sewed the wrong pieces together). Amy got a Nintendo switch for her birthday so we’ve enjoyed playing some games on that – no competitiveness at all, especially not when playing Mario kart. I’ve also become a bit addicted to the Bananagrams game that Amy got for her birthday, Amy wasn’t a fan initially (because she kept losing) but we’re starting to get the hang of it. Jack and I played a mega game, you still use the same number of letters with two people so it just takes much longer and much more brain power. Jack some how manages to play the word ‘sex’ every single game, ‘what other words end in x?’ ‘erm… six’
Amy’s Saturday bake was a lemon meringue pie, one of my faves. She tried her first sourdough pastry which was absolutely delicious, we’ve put some in the freezer to use in the future – It would make a banging quiche. It was a beauty of a pie, the meringue was flourishing (unlike us in Quarantine). You know it’s bad when a pie looks more attractive than you.
While the rest of the family watched Britain’s Got Talent, Jack and I watched ‘Zootropolis’ (praise the lord for Disney +) which is one of the rare Disney films that I haven’t watched. It might have made it into my top 10, I thought it was really charming and clever. Another recommendation I have is ‘Normal People’ on BBC Iplayer. I read the book last year in Vienna (and raced through it) and they’ve made it into a drama, I’ve only watched one episode so far but it’s highly praised and really captures the beauty of the book. Recommended for anyone who needs a good sob.
