Dear Isolation #53 & #54

We had a very lazy and cosy Sunday with the rain not making going outside look very appealing. I opted for a lie in while exercise freaks (or something like that) mum and Amy decided to wake up early and do a ‘sexy bikini body workout’. This was a very dated video, as you can tell by the title and I’d like to note that we think any body is a bikini body and no amount of exercise defines whether or not you can wear one. Amy also pointed out that they were using plastic, non-reusable water bottles which I think shows how far we’ve come, in a good way! They appreciated the workout but I can confirm that no bikinis have been worn since.

The day was spent crafting, reading and chilling. I continued on with my paint by numbers, Amy made a wax candle with a set she got for her birthday (smells great), Mum continued making masks and Jack started a new book. Dad on the other hand braved the rain in his tractor and came back rather soggy. In the evening we all played ‘Game of Life’, a classic. This was definitely the longest game of game of life I’d ever played, it must have lasted at least an hour and a half. Jack had a melt down when he had to buy the most expensive house going (and couldn’t afford insurance), Dad had so many children that they couldn’t fit in his car and Amy switched from being a teacher to an air hostess. It was neck and neck with money at the end – Dad, Jack and I all had the same amount until the life cards got turned and Amy managed to gain another million. If only life was that simple ey? (Also not sure how I feel about a game that defines your life success by the amount of money you die with?)

Monday wasn’t much better weather wise – still pretty miserable but we braved a very blustery walk. We walked up to the country park, amazingly I’d never walked there considering I’ve lived here for 18 years! We didn’t see anyone apart from two women walking what must have been about 7 dogs, all different breeds. They were (sadly) very well trained so just sat to one side to let us pass, this was sad as I would quite like to have been herded at by 7 four legged friends. We noticed the sky getting suspiciously grey so decided to turn back before we got drenched and made it back in time, all with very red faces and cold hands!

Amy decided we needed some healthier baking so whipped up some banana, oat and dark chocolate cookies. I thought they were great but Amy’s feedback was ‘you can tell that they’re healthy.’ Mum and Amy also made a less healthy apple crumble to use up the apples, including a little minature gluten free one for me. Jack and I watched the first half of ‘Anthony and Cleopatra’ with Ralph Fiennes as Anthony, this week’s NT Live, we couldn’t hack the 3 hours so we’ve decided to do it in two halves. I’ve seen it before and preferred the last version I saw. My verdict is that the stuff with Cleopatra is great but I find the whole army, Caesar chat a bit dull – that’s probably down to my personal preference. We’re planning on watching the rest tonight. They’ve just announced their next line up of NT Live’s and I’m very excited about a few of them.
