Dear Isolation #55

We somehow managed to get through our morning cardio workout, our bodies were telling us that we need a break as we cried through the squats. Yoga was planned for Wednesday (plot spoiler, was well needed)

I forgot to mention that over the weekend Amy’s baking fought back and she received a bit of a nasty baking battle scar aka a burn. She accidentally caught it on the oven door and let out a yelp, we ushered her under the tap as she cried ‘sorry, I’m being dramatic’. From how the burn has healed, she wasn’t being dramatic. However as Jack said, she’ll always have it to look back on as a memory of the hours and hours spent baking in lockdown – always gotta look on the bright side.

Amy and mum took a trip out in the car yesterday (ooh) to fetch some material from a local village for mum to make some scrubs from. Amy just went for the drive but appreciated the dogs she spotted from the car. Mum has got the material to make 10 sets of scrubs in a lovely mustard colour, It looks quite difficult to me but mum thinks it’ll get easier as she goes along. Northampton and Kettering General hospitals need 700 extra pairs of scrubs, so she better get sewing! Amy got her sewing on and made herself a mask in a very pretty floral design, she opted for the trickier design but it’s much more comfortable to wear.

This whole blog seems to be dedicated to Mum and Amy activity, I was doing very boring admin jobs which doesn’t make for great content. They went on a very grey and blustery walk up to the country park on which they saw some very cute dogs and a hare that they mistook for a dog! Jack spent a good chunk of the day reading, he’s not much of a reader but he has been engrossed in ‘The Last’ by Hannah Jameson. I finally finished ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Atwood last night, which is a brilliant and very clever book but wasn’t the best choice for a lockdown read – felt a little too close to home. Need to choose something a bit lighter next.

We have been having a family debate over the past couple of days of whether we ever or still do own Cluedo. Amy and I were convinced that we had whereas Mum and Dad thought we’d always just played it elsewhere. They hunted high and low and it wasn’t found, so just as we were beginning to doubt ourselves – I had a look and found it in under 30 seconds. I wish now that I hadn’t as after one game I was reminded how much I dislike it. Everyone else will say it is because I am shit at it, which yes I am, but I also just find it very boring. I might have to find a better hiding place for it..
