The big 60, that call for a party or something?
Mum and dad got their gardening on yesterday, strimming and cutting the hedges. Mum came in at one point and had to empty her bra out into the bin because she had half the hedge in there. Meanwhile the ‘children’ played games. We started with a bit of netball, the other day mum got a streak of 8 hoops in a row and she hasn’t let us forget it. It was a bit bright for netball so we moved onto frisbee. I didn’t realise how terrifying a frisbee flying towards you is, especially pelted by Jack at your knees. It wasn’t only my knees that had a near miss but also Jack’s car (not that it’s getting much use right now) but I think he’d rather not have a frisbee scrape down the side. Jack and Amy coined ‘The Megan’ which involves holding your arms in the air and frantically running in the direction of the frisbee which funnily enough Mum did the exact same when she came to join.
Amy and mum had a walk, or should I say power walk, into the woods. It usually takes them about half an hour, with the steep incline but they managed to swoop round in 25 minutes (they were very proud of themselves for not stopping on the hill). The bluebells are still there but not sure for how much longer.
What better way to end a Sunday than with toad in the hole, the gluten free ‘holes’ still looked a bit sad next to mum’s epic beasty glutenous ones. We’re planning our weeks around food so we are excited by the fact that some more take out are opening, can’t tell at all that we are driven by our bellies.
We watched the most recent NT live, ‘The Barbershop Chronicles’ in the evening. The premise was exploring the conversations and relationships within Barbershops both in London and around the world. It explored black culture and what it means to be a black man in modern society in a very thoughtful, honest way – it had some great humour and music also.
