Dear Isolation #61

Our morning workout was somewhat disturbed by the window cleaners. We didn’t fancy an audience, both for our and their sanity, so we moved into Amy’s bedroom with the curtains drawn. Amy’s room has much less space and is carpeted which doesn’t bode well for anything on the floor, carpet burns were an extra addition to the pain of a workout. We also took the room temperature up by 1 degree. Not the most successful and/or enjoyable workout, but the thought was there.

Jack had a day of Zoom meetings with the theatre he freelances for, I left him with a flask of tea and a packet of doritoes and didn’t hear from him for three hours. Bliss. Meanwhile Amy and I got our craft on and both made him a birthday card (mad how quickly that has come around!) while we watched the Aristocats. We made the observation that Duchess (the mother) speaks with a french accent, Marie (her daughter) speaks with an english accent while the two boys have American accents – diverse family. We also realised that the mouse is voiced by the same actor who voiced Winnie the Pooh.

The four of us (Jack needed some down time) went for a walk up to the country park after dinner. I am still surprised that we haven’t made the most of that walk before, particularly with the high chance of dog spottage. It was a beautiful clear, sunny evening so the views from the top were great. We only saw two dogs but that’s always better than no dogs – one was a Shih Tzu with a particularly funny looking face. Amy and I dawdled at the back singing Disney songs and talking rubbish, that’s our happy place.

Our reward after the walk was Amy’s bake of the day. A deeply missed favourite of mine – Iced buns. They were worth the day of loving and tending to, slightly varied in shape and size (but aren’t we all) and tasted great. We have had them again today and can confirm that second day iced buns need a strong jaw and a lot of patience.
