Dear Isolation #62

I thought I’d get in there early today before my head implodes in the heat, heat and Megan are not a great combination.

The morning workout was more successful than the day previous, with no worry of anyone popping up at the window. We did a ‘sexy’ cardio workout. Can say we’ve never looked sexier.

We rotated between inside cool activities and brief ventures outside (of course smothered in factor 50). We took the frisbee up a level with Jack’s version of competitive team frisbee. It basically had the same rules at netball and we worked in teams of two to try and get the frisbee into our area. We battled the heat and the wind but Jack and I came out victorious. I think we’ll be putting in a petition to add frisbee to the list of Olympic sports.

We needed a cool down after this physical excursion so attempted to set up the sprinkler and only a sprinkle we got. It was the most anti-climatic jet of water, felt like an omen of 2020. We therefore bravely gave the power of the hosepipe to Jack, he held it while we ran through it and pulled some ridiculous facial expressions. For the most part he was kind to us but there was a hilarious moment where he challenged Amy to jump over the jet of water and while she was doing so fiicked it up so she got soaked. She hadn’t realised he’d done this so just thought she’d aimed really badly. Jack wouldn’t let us get him with the hose pipe because he had all his stuff in his pocket (poor excuse) but then continued to put his head directly in the stream (strange boy).

We gave over the power to mum who then asked us quiz questions and if we didn’t get it right she’d squirt us, this was reminder that I should have paid more attention in Biology at school.

In the evening, we ventured out… what the?? Our favourite restaurant in Rugby, Bacco Lounge, has recently opened for take out so we pre-ordered and ate the food in one of the local parks. The food was amazing – Jack, Dad and I had various different burgers (my veggie one was incredible), Amy had a breakfast burrito and Mum had a mexican superbowl (see picture). The weather was beautiful and the dogs were ample but I couldn’t help but feeling a bit guilty for being there. We were well away from everyone and didn’t touch anything, speak to anyone etc etc but I think the fact the park was SO busy made me feel as though we were adding to the masses – which we were. I’m aware that this is now ‘legal’ and we weren’t really putting anyone at danger but I think it will definitely be something that we value as a treat. We are very lucky that we don’t need a park to sit in, we have a garden and open space but I know how valuable open spaces are to some people who might not be able to get out otherwise. Saying all this, we did have a lovely evening and I was very grateful to be somewhere different – nothing is simple right now ey?
