Dear Isolation #88 & #89

It’s been a pretty slow and chilled couple of days but the added addition of sunshine made everything that bit better.

Despite having just done a workout, Amy persuaded Mum to take the walk into town on Sunday. They went early to avoid the heat of the day but still came back looking a bit puffed out and in need of a solero. They were very proud to have found icing sugar hiding right at the bottom of the shelf in a little corner shop, Jack’s science icing sugar stash is starting to wear thin. They also brought back some particularly spicy wasabi nuts with Jack in mind, even he couldn’t keep a straight face when he first popped one in his mouth.

Jack started a bit of light reading over the weekend… Stephen Hawking’s ‘Brief answers to the Big Questions.’ It takes him a while to get through a chapter, with google being a helpful resource but he’s very much enjoying expanding his mind. Apparently it’s doing good at putting things into perspective, I think it would just keep me up all night over thinking my existence.

Amy is sick to death of me suggesting to play banagrams so we rooted through the game collection and picked out some old childhood favourites – much to Jack’s delight. One in which the aim is to balance plastic pizza toppings on top of a plastic pizza which is precariously balanced on top of the chef’s finger. Jack created an extreme version in which we removed the chef’s feet (extra wobble) and had to see who could get the most toppings on – lock down madness. We also played another classic, honey bee tree which is essentially kerplunk but with bee’s in a tree – revolutionary.

Dad went out on his tractor on Sunday and did some digging with next door. He came back with a moustache of dirt which made for a very funny picture. Mum said ‘clearly not obiding by the don’t touch your face rule!’

The cheesecake was finished and was a success. It got a little browned on the top so we took some strategically angled photos to hide this and it looks bake off ready. It was our pudding after a lovely sunny BBQ – can’t beat it.

I spent a lot of Monday sat outside in the warmth doing my painting by numbers. I obviously smothered myself in suncream but managed to miss a small patch on my back which as you can guess got a bit red (not quite as severe as Jack’s knees!)

We took a walk in the evening to see the smallest of the lambs near us who have now been joined by two tiny calves. The calves were quite far away so we didn’t get a great look at them but the lambs were being very playful. We watched a dramatic reunion of a ewe and lamb who were separated on opposite ends of the field, the lamb pelting at a ferocious force to drink the milk – driven by their stomach, I can relate.
