Dear Isolation #90 & #91

We’re nearly at 100, how did we get here? Your guess is as good as mine.

We were really having to think hard to remember what we did on Tuesday but we were triggered by Amy complaining about the bite on her hand. This reminded us of the traumatic walk that her and mum had endured involving a big dog and a big fly.

They took a walk up the woods and were walking by the fence which divides the wood and the country park when suddenly a dog shot under the fence and begin barking at them and snarling viciously. They were obviously both very taken aback by this and pretty scared, trying to calm the dog as it got closer and closer. Mum said how Amy cowered behind her letting mum do the talking. They said it felt like they were stood there for a good 5 minutes before the owner eventually hopped the fence to put it back on the harness it had slipped out of. The owner didn’t quite see the impact of the situation and apologised a bit half-heartedly! They think the dog was mainly just scared but obviously still not a very enjoyable experience.

Just after this happened a big horse fly took a big munch on Amy’s hand, she said the adrenaline meant it didn’t really hurt but she’s come out with quite a lump. Fair to say I was quite glad I didn’t join them on this one!!

Tuesday is a little bit of a blur for me but I did give Jack a better than average hair cut. I also watched a Q&A with John Godber, he wrote a lot of plays on the GSCE syllabus including Shakers and Teachers. It was an interesting listen particularly as he is very northern – always nice on the ears.

Wednesday was slightly less traumatic (in some ways) and we took a trip to ‘The Work House’ in Brixworth which is a cafe that is open for take out cake and coffee (and milkshakes but we resisted those this time!). These cakes are also next level; I went for a fudge tiffin, Amy and Jack had Biscoff rice crispy squares, Mum had a Wispa gold flapjack and we brought Dad back home a frangipani slice. We met Jack there who had just done the 7 mile walk around Pitsford reservoir, he was very achey and very much in need of the coffee and cake.

It turned into a bit of an expensive day for Jack when an oil warning light popped up on his car and we had to head to the garage on the way back to get his oil changed. It was also raining while we waited but we quite enjoyed being cooled down by the rain and people/dog watching – can’t do much of that where we are!
