Dear Isolation #15

A new day, another workout we instantly regret. We chose a cardio workout designed for ‘mums’, naively believing that this would be within our capability. Little did we know it was designed for mums with rock hard abs and perfect bubble butts. We sweated and panted our way through the gruelling half an hour of squats and the cursed plank – we did it though!

Mum and her pals tried out ‘zoom’ today which is an online platform you can do video calls on with lots of people – it’s also what I’ll be using in the next coming weeks for my work. We could hear her giggling away in the office. I’ve loved seeing how inventive people have been with online video chats – I’ve seen people having dinner parties, Disney quizzes, getting smashed and having a boogie with their pals on a Saturday night.

Amy and mum went on a little stroll, not quite sure how their glutes held out. I asked mum again if they saw anything interesting.. her response was ‘our shadows.’ I’m gonna need a bit more detail than that sal, need to keep the blog readers at least slightly engaged. She did take an artsy picture of said ‘shadows’ so I’ll give her that one.

Amy Berry pulled out the stops today and made profiteroles – including GF ones, I was buzzing considering I don’t think I’ve had them since cutting the gluten. They were filled with cream (obviously) and served with a dark chocolate sauce and a strawberry sauce. She had 4 very happy customers who would have all licked our bowls clean.

In the evening we decided to be a bit cultured (darling) and watch the National Theatre Live Stream of ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ starring the wonderful James Corden. It’s set in 1960’s Brighton with James playing the blundering Frances who manages to find himself working as a runaround for two Guvnors (who’d have thought it?) allowing for a lot of confusion and mishaps. It’s a very silly and fun performance, a lot of brilliant physical comedy and audience interaction. It’s still on the National Theatre YouTube account (not sure for how much longer!) for anyone who might be interested in watching it.
