Dear Isolation #80

Gonna start the blog in the most British way by commenting on the weather but we just couldn’t keep up with it yesterday. We had beautiful sunshine, hail, thunder, lightning, blustery winds; none of which lasted longer than about 10 minutes.

We decided that we needed a bit of a pamper, a bit of TLC and proposed that we were having a spa afternoon. This consisted of lighting some smelly candles, finding a spa playlist on Spotify, laying out a spread of very random snacks and delving in the cupboards to find every beauty product we own. Jack and I gave each other facials (in our matching dressing gowns) , Jack tried his first sheet mask which we took a bit of time to get used to. While he had it on I gave him a hand massage and an ‘elbow treatment’ – really going that extra mile for my customers. I had to guide him through the products but he did a very good job with my facial and we both looked fresh and glowing (or mum just wanted to make us feel better!)

Meanwhile Amy got her nails painted by Mum and then returned the favour by tweezing mum’s eyebrows followed by her upper lip.. this was not a calming soundtrack for us nor was it the relax and recuperation that mum signed up for. Mum then gave dad a facial, I think he was more tempted by the spa snacks than the services but I think he enjoyed it. Mum definitely deserved her facial after all of this, she seemed pretty zen so I hope I did an okay job!

Amy got her pizza chef on and whipped up some sourdough pizza for dinner, the BBQ one was particularly good. Next door’s lettuces are pretty beasty compared to ours so they dropped one over which we had alongside, they’ve won the battle of the veg thus far. Jack brought back the good’s from his trip to Tesco so we had a passion fruit and raspberry cheesecake for pudding – we ate like kings.
